PSD scholarship

This evening, like any other day when im at home i read TheStar newspaper and today i read one intresting article with a topic " PSD Scholarship Criteria To be re-evaluated". its an article that quote a speech from datuk seri Ong Tee Keat.
In my point of view, i agree there is some aspect of injustice in distributing the PSD scholarship as some of our country top scorer was deny their right to get the wat i can call a prestigious scholarship in Malaysia. There are many student after completed their spm will apply for PSD scholarship to persude their study abroad in variety of critical courses especially like medicine. When their application was rejected, they will cry out load and even will ask help from their politician and some even go to media to make their story a national intrest. These kind of situation will happen annually especially after SPM and Matriculation + STPM result release.

So to put thing back on the right tract, ok come on, lets review the PSD scholarship criteria selection so that those who think they are the best student can fight for their right in a fair land. but i just like to quote the speech from Ong tee keat

"Meritrocracy means its should solely be the student result and not other area" and "if the meritrocracy was part of the criteria, the student's curiculum activities and interview should not included for consideration"

And i just want to say to him dat he just not so clever to hav a statement like that and i think this is just a tool to gain his political popularity as most of the students are chinese.

ok, if they want to review the selection criteria and still want the criteria based on meritocracy, mean everything solely based on how many A's the student get in their SPM we should change our National academic policy by deleting all the extra curicular activity in the school.. so, school is just to study.. nothing more or nothing less... so everybody can compete in a more healthy way by focusing to make sure they get as many A's they can......

but im sure diz sound radiculous.. even to me... why i say its radiculous... because its not fair to everyone.. school is where everything begin... its where we start to choose our path.. its where somebody start to develop as musician, politician, athletes, lawyer or anything... school is not the place to produce people who want to become a doctor only... more than that, school is the place where the nation try to build an individual that is not only educated but also talented in variety of field.. and if meritrocary and acedemic performance is the only criteria to get the scholarship, then we only can produce a robot with full of medical knowledge or engineering knowledge..

so i think the best way is we use the meritrocracy to select a number of good student to attend the interview to get the scholarship and then from the interview we can assess the student based on their general knowledge, their extracuricular actvities and how they can speak confidently with the interview.. we can assess as much as possible so that a sum of money is not wasted on a donkey who only know how to read book and answer an objective question.. (do u agree with me that SPM is not that hard in this world where internet, books and past year question is easily available???? and some more... soalan bocor lagi... duh!)

to make thing intresting... in my uni and my course some of my friends.. are not intrested to apply PSD scholarship because they dont want to be bond with goverment for 10 years.. but, yes... i noe some of them cry out load after their application to get PSD scholarship to study abroad by using their very good SPM result was rejected... luckily now compulsory service was extended up to 5 years... so its just 5 year extra.. and for me, its dont even matter.. i study by using the tax money from the people and hopefully i could serve them well as long as possible.. InsyaAllah

p/s: im so depressed when i not even called for interview with my not so good SPM result.. but thanks Allah.. so far so good.. Alhamdulillah..
